Histidine

hist
Updated 21/12/2022

Indication(s)

Histidine has antiinflammatory and antioxidant effects, is inversely related to CRP, and is low in obesity and renal dysfunction. Histidine values may complement the metabolic profile in studies on inflammatory conditions, obesity, diabetes and renal dysfunction.
Methods: GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS.

Specimen, collection and processing

Matrix: Serum or EDTA plasma.
Volume: Minimum volume is 50 µL, but 200 µL is optimal and allows reanalysis.
Preparation and stability: The blood sample must be centrifuged and the plasma/serum fraction put on ice, and frozen.

Transportation

Frozen, on dry ice. (for general instruction on transportation, click here)

Reported values, interpretation

Reported values: 40-150 µmol/L.
Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC): NA
